The health education resources and tools found on this page are geared towards Special Olympics athletes and other people with intellectual disabilities.
Athletes might receive referrals for follow-up care from any of the Healthy Athletes screenings, and Special Olympics Kansas is committed to assisting them find the services and resources that they require when they return to their local communities.
Special Olympics Health Messengers are athletes who are trained to serve as health and wellness leaders, educators, advocates and role models. They are leading their teams, families, friends and communities to pursue healthy lifestyles.
SOKS 360 Health Day is a stand-alone Healthy Athlete screening event. Disciplines include Opening Eyes, Healthy Hearing, Special Smiles and Health Promotions. These screenings conducted by health professionals trained to work with Special Olympics athlete are done in a friendly, welcoming environment. Find out more about Healthy Athlete screenings.

How this works:
Prior to participating in Healthy Athletes Screenings, athletes and/or their guardians are required to sign a Healthy Athletes Consent and Release Form. The form can be downloaded here and emailed to Chris Burt or brought to the screening session. If necessary forms can be completed on the day of the event.
