The health education resources and tools found on this page are geared towards Special Olympics athletes and other people with intellectual disabilities.
Athletes might receive referrals for follow-up care from any of the Healthy Athletes screenings, and Special Olympics Kansas is committed to assisting them find the services and resources that they require when they return to their local communities.
Special Olympics Health Messengers are athletes who are trained to serve as health and wellness leaders, educators, advocates and role models. They are leading their teams, families, friends and communities to pursue healthy lifestyles.
This event is for the general public who would like to join the Torch Run in Garden City as it enters the Garden City Winds Baseball Game for their Opening Ceremonies! If you register online, you can use the “check-in” line the day of the event to get your hat and bypass walk-up registration lines.
Check-in and walk up registration will take place at the Lee Richardson Zoo from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. The fun run/walk will start at 5:00 pm, or when the torch arrives at the zoo. We will end at the GC Winds game around 6:00 pm, when the Law Enforcement Torch Run enters the stadium to present the torch, throw the first pitch, and participate in opening ceremonies. All paid participant fees will include a ticket to the GC Winds game that night!
Cost for the run and game ticket is $30 through June 8. After June 8 the cost is $35 online or $40 in person the day of the event. The fee includes a 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run t-shirt or hat!
