SUMMARY:Special Olympics Kansas Program Conference
DESCRIPTION:Date: Friday\, September 1 – Saturday\, September 2\n\n\n\n\n\n–\n\n\nLocation: Hilton Garden Inn Salina\n\n\n–\nOverview: The themes for this year’s program conference are self-advocacy (why it’s important for our athletes to be self-advocacy and how you can help them develop this skill) and health (importance of health and fitness beyond sports and strategies and programs you can deploy to help your athletes improve their overall health). In addition to breakout sessions around these topics\, we will have two general sessions and a sports workshop. There is no registration fee for this conference. At a minimum\, dinner on Friday\, and lunch and a light social on Saturday will be provided at no cost to attendees.\n–\nWho should attend? Open to anyone involved with Special Olympics. The content is primarily for Local Program Coordinators\, coaches and parents. SUMMARY:Champion Livestock Show
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Champions Livestock Show will be held at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson\, Kansas on Friday\, September 8th at 1:30 p.m.\nTransportation will not be provided\, but parking and admission to the Kansas State Fair will be available for athletes\, coaches\, and family members.\n\nAthletes will be paired with a Unified Partner (partner without disabilities) to show a goat or bucket calf (provided by partner or Kansas State Fair) in the Prairie Pavilion. The Unified Partner will meet the athlete before the show and give them tips. They will also work with them during the show.\n\nA reception will be held after the show to highlight the athletes’ achievements.\nPlease complete this form to ensure that you will participate with the Champion Livestock Show. Once we receive your information\, you will receive an email within a week with more specific details on the show. Additionally\, participants will receive a shirt from Key Industries\, be able to show at the Kansas State Fair\, and stay as long as you would like at the fair. Athletes are able to bring family members or caregivers as well.\n\nThis is a first come\, first serve opportunity. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in participating.\n\nRegistration is now closed.
