Join us on Saturday\, April 26\, 2025\, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Shawnee Heights High School in Tecumseh\, KS\, where athletes will have the opportunity to participate in this free health screening designed to improve flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and overall physical wellness. \nWhat is FUNFitness?FUNfitness is a physiotherapy (physical therapy) screening that examines the flexibility\, strength\, balance \, and aerobic fitness of Special Olympics athletes and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Dysfunction in any of these areas can result in pain\, discomfort\, and sub-optimal activity performance in sports and everyday life. During these screenings\, physiotherapists\, students\, and other related health professionals\, identify areas of concern in the above areas to offer education and expert guidance on suggested follow-up care including exercise recommendations\, sport-specific training tips\, and when appropriate\, referral recommendations. \nWhere to Find Us:The screening station will be outside under the tents to the left of the entrance to the track area. This evening event brings together Special Olympics Kansas athletes from across the region to showcase their skills in an exciting singles match play format. \nAthletes will take the court for head-to-head tennis action\, demonstrating the skills they’ve been practicing all season—serve\, rally\, and strategy. This competition is perfect for players who are ready to put their abilities to the test in real-time matches. Whether you’re new to match play or a returning athlete\, this event is an excellent opportunity to compete\, build confidence\, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow athletes. \nThe event will be organized to match athletes by skill level\, ensuring fair and fun play for everyone. Volunteers and officials will be on hand to guide the matches and cheer on the players as they compete for pride\, personal bests\, and medals. \nSpectators are welcome—bring your friends\, family\, and teammates to support the athletes and enjoy an evening of community and sport!
