Jeff Emrick – 2019 Special Olympics Kansas Hall of Fame Inductee

Jeff is a sports-a-holic both as a spectator and an athlete. He has workout equipment in his basement and he actually uses it! Jeff has been an athlete with Special Olympics Kansas for 22 years and competes with the Hutchinson Reno County Hawks team.

As an athlete, Jeff is so happy to be involved that it is contagious.

His coaches say he isn’t the best defensive player becuase of his big heart – he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. They say that is encouraging in its own way.

Friends say Jeff is caring and helpful taking new athletes to the team under his wing to show them the ropes.

Highlights of Jeff’s career:

  • 2010 Special Olympics Summer Games in Lincoln, NE; bowling team

In June, Team Kansas will represent our state at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games — competing against thousands of athletes from across the country. For many, it’s the biggest moment of their athletic career.

But here’s the reality: getting our team to Minnesota doesn’t happen without serious community support. Travel, uniforms, equipment, meals, and competition fees add up fast. Every dollar raised goes directly toward making sure our athletes can focus on one thing — competing their hearts out.
