Jesus Marquez – 2019 Special Olympics Kansas Most Inspirational Athlete

Jesus competes in basketball, track and field, and bowling with the Dodge City Dodgers team in his hometown of Dodge City. He calls his team his second family and says his teammates are his world.

Jesus’s parents say Special Olympics has really helped him grow into the young man he was meant to be. His spirit, his confidence and his pride have all blossomed in the last five years since he joined his team.

At one time he was the youngest in his family, but now that he has three younger adopted siblings he’s considered the “Big Brother” and has started coaching his younger siblings in soccer and T-ball.

When he isn’t competing or coaching, “Chewie” as his friends call him, enjoys school and is looking forward to technical college in the coming years. In his downtime he also really enjoys watching wrestling.

If you saw Jesus at Summer Games you know he loves competing and that he also loves to dance at Special Olympics Kansas dances (though he’ll always reserve the first dance for his mom Julie)!

Felicitaciones al Atleta mas Inspirador del 2019, Jesus Marquez!
