Meet Blake Docking

Meet Blake, a dedicated athlete with Special Olympics Kansas for an impressive 33 years!! Starting his athletic journey at just 8 years old, Blake has grown into an inspirational figure within the SOKS community.

Blake competes for the Olathe Trailblazers in several sports, including swimming, golf, volleyball, track & field, bocce, and bowling. Despite being advised by his doctor to avoid soccer and basketball due to a hip replacement surgery a year and a half ago, Blake continues to shine in his other sports.

His love for golf and bowling stands out, with numerous accolades to his name. Some of these include participating in the USA Games in 2006 and 2010, where he excelled in 9-hole individual golf. He received a gold medal in 2006 and in 2010, competing in a higher-level division, got bronze.

His commitment and skill were further recognized when he was inducted into the SOKS Hall of Fame. One of his proudest moments was playing in the Royals Charities Golf Tournament, where he made six birdies and had the honor of sitting in the Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat.

Blake’s advice: “Get involved! It’s a lot of fun, and you make a lot of friends.”

Blake’s story is a testament to the power of perseverance, community, and the joy of sports. His unwavering positivity and infectious happiness are truly inspiring!
