Rylee Robinson: Health Messenger with the Power of Perseverance

Rylee Robinson’s remarkable journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and the indomitable spirit that resides within her. Born on June 23, 2000, Rylee’s life took a drastic turn at the age of 12 when a tragic accident changed her world forever. While riding her bike, she was struck by a car, resulting in life-altering injuries, including a severe traumatic brain injury, a left lower leg amputation, and the loss of her spleen. Numerous fractures added to her already significant challenges, and Rylee found herself on a ventilator and feeding tube for an arduous 30-day period.

The road to recovery was an uphill battle, but Rylee was determined to overcome every obstacle. With boundless courage and an unwavering fighting spirit, she embarked on a journey of re-learning fundamental skills—talking, reading, writing, eating, and walking. Rylee’s dedication knew no bounds as she exceeded all expectations set for her. Even after 11 years, she continues to work diligently with therapies, demonstrating her unyielding commitment to self-improvement.

Her strength and courage remain evident in her daily pursuit of new goals. In high school, Rylee found solace and passion in Unified Sports, where she learned she could continue her love for sports despite her physical limitations. Now a vibrant 23-year-old, Rylee is an esteemed member of Team Topeka Shawnee. She revels in playing various sports, including softball, bocce ball, bowling, basketball, and soccer. As a bocce athlete, she even had the privilege of competing as part of Team Kansas at the prestigious USA Games last summer.

Rylee Robinson’s life story exemplifies the true essence of triumph through adversity. Her relentless pursuit of health and fitness not only propelled her personal growth but also made her a role model for embracing differences and celebrating the abilities in all of us.
