Hosted at Centennial Lanes\, this event is one of the highlights of the Special Olympics Kansas fall sports season and provides athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to showcase their skills\, celebrate achievements\, and connect with teammates\, coaches\, and the community. \nBowling is one of the most popular and inclusive sports offered by Special Olympics Kansas\, welcoming athletes of all ability levels. At the West Regional\, participants will compete in singles\, doubles\, and team play. Each match is an opportunity for athletes to demonstrate not only their athletic growth but also the teamwork\, perseverance\, and sportsmanship that define Special Olympics competition. \nCommunity support plays a vital role in making this event possible. Volunteers are needed throughout the day to assist with athlete check-in\, lane support\, scorekeeping\, awards\, and more. Volunteering at the West Regional Bowling competition is an excellent way to get involved\, meet inspiring athletes\, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. No prior bowling experience is required—just a willingness to help and cheer on the athletes. \nSpectators are encouraged to attend and experience the energy and joy that fills the lanes during competition. DESCRIPTION:Registration information will be sent to local programs in early fall. \nNEW! We are trying a different participation policy for the West Region Bowling tournament on October 21st. Athletes in communities where there is not currently a local program can register and compete as an individual. This is on a trial basis only for this event. It is our hope that through this process we will provide opportunities to athletes who otherwise wouldn’t be able to participate and ideally be the stepping stone to forming programs in new communities. \nSteps to register as an individual: \n\nComplete this online interest form so that we have you on the list to receive the registration information in the fall.\nComplete an athlete registration form/medical packet.
