Awards for All
Athletes will be recognized with Special Olympics Kansas branded medals—1st and 2nd place medals for top placements, and ribbons for everyone to celebrate their hard work and participation.
Animals
Recommended animals include goats, pigs, and sheep, but other species are welcome. Athletes will work with their Unified partners to train, fit, and show their animals, just like in a traditional livestock competition.
Competition
Athletes and Partners will compete in "fitting & showing." Fitting and showing competitions, also known as showmanship, are events where exhibitors are judged on how well they present their animal, focusing on the handler's skills and the animal's appearance.
Judging
Judging will have a positive focus. While the event follows standard livestock judging criteria, judges will use only positive, encouraging feedback to create an uplifting experience for all participants.
It’s All About Fun & Togetherness: This event is a celebration of abilities, a chance for athletes to gain hands-on experience, and an opportunity for mentorship and friendships to form between Special Olympics athletes and students.
