Alli Larison began her career in law enforcement in 2011, getting involved with the Law
Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) during her time in the academy. Since 2022, she has served on
the Kansas LETR council. As a community policing officer, Alli is actively engaged in various
initiatives within both the Wichita Police Department and the broader Wichita community. Her
partner on the department is K-9 “Stewie,” a Walker Hound who serves as the therapy dog for
the WPD.
Alli has played a crucial role in enhancing LETR participation within the Wichita Police
Department, ensuring that WPD remains a leading force in the LETR movement—an endeavor
admired by states and countries worldwide.
One of Alli’s favorite LETR memories was at the LETR International Conference in Chicago,
where she saw SOKS athlete Josh Alters receive the International LETR Athlete Award. Seeing
Josh receiving the award, coupled with the surprise visit from his family, left a profound impact
on everyone. Alli said, “It’s moments like this that remind you not to take things for granted.”
This shared experience moved everyone at the table, truly showcasing the strength of the LETR
community.
Alli enjoys being at the events, surprising athletes with awards, and handing out medals. She
says “it is truly a proud feeling” when receiving their irreplaceable hugs and being asked to take
selfies with them. “These athletes work so hard and this makes them happy. If I can be there
along their journey then it’s just a bonus for me!”
Alli is actively involved in various LETR events, including the Polar Plunge, Torch Runs, Tip A
Cop events, and athlete award ceremonies. Each year, she participates in the Kansas Final Leg
and recently completed the 11-mile final leg in full uniform. She also represented the Kansas
LETR at the International Conference in Chicago and will do so again this fall at the conference
in San Antonio, TX.
Outside of her professional commitments and LETR activities, Alli enjoys reading, running,
embracing new challenges, and proudly fulfilling the role of “Dance Mom.”
We extend our gratitude to Alli for her ongoing contributions to Special Olympics Kansas and
the Law Enforcement Torch Run!
