The IdeaTek Athlete of the Month: Gentry Scheid

The IdeaTek Athlete of the Month for July is Gentry Scheid!

Gentry has been competing with Topeka Shawnee for a few years, showing heart and hustle in sports like basketball, soccer, track, and more! He is also a Unified Athlete at Washburn Rural and is currently playing for the Sporting KC Special Olympics Unified Soccer Team!

Off the field, he has been exceptional in the community, as he volunteered to serve and package food for organizations such as the Topeka Rescue Mission, and Harvesters. He is also gaining valuable work experience at the Kansas Children Discovery Center.

In June, Team Kansas will represent our state at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games — competing against thousands of athletes from across the country. For many, it’s the biggest moment of their athletic career.

But here’s the reality: getting our team to Minnesota doesn’t happen without serious community support. Travel, uniforms, equipment, meals, and competition fees add up fast. Every dollar raised goes directly toward making sure our athletes can focus on one thing — competing their hearts out.
