USA Games Athlete Spotlight: Riley Green

Sport: Basketball
Hometown: Hays, Kansas

Riley Green has been part of Special Olympics Kansas since 2019 and is excited to represent Team Kansas in basketball at the 2026 USA Games. Over the years, he has competed in basketball, softball, swimming, soccer, track and field, and bowling. Through Special Olympics, Riley says he’s gained confidence, learned to be a team player, and found opportunities to grow his athletic skills in ways he didn’t have before.

Riley is most proud of himself and the progress he’s made as both an athlete and a person. He looks up to his teammates Ethan and Jonah, who inspire him in his sports journey. Off the court, Riley enjoys drinking coffee, reading about Japanese history, and learning new languages like Japanese, German, and Estonian. He’s also known for his basketball trick shots!

For Riley, attending USA Games means spending time with friends, seeing new places, and proudly representing Kansas. He’s practicing whenever he can and feels confident, not nervous, about the big stage. A graduate of Hays High School, Riley also had a summer job and hopes to work at Harvest Hays growing food and plants in the future.
