USA Games Athlete Spotlight: Caleb DeMaio

Hometown: McPherson
Sport: Golf

Caleb DeMaio of McPherson, Kansas, is proud to represent Special Olympics Kansas in golf at the 2026 USA Games. Caleb has been involved with Special Olympics for more than 11 years and has competed in a wide range of sports, including golf, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and track & field.

Through Special Olympics, Caleb has gained confidence both on and off the course. What once felt intimidating—meeting new people and stepping outside his comfort zone—has become one of his greatest strengths. Special Olympics has provided him with opportunities to showcase his skills, grow as an athlete, and form lasting friendships.

Caleb is especially proud of the accomplishments he has earned through golf. He also played high school golf, where he developed strong relationships with teammates and a deeper love for the sport. Today, Caleb continues to stay active by working at a fitness center, bowling in a weekly league, and competing in a competitive golf league at his home course.

Family and friends play a big role in Caleb’s success, offering constant encouragement and support. Outside of sports, Caleb is a passionate Ole Miss fan and enjoys traveling to Mississippi to attend games whenever he can.

As he prepares for the 2026 USA Games, Caleb trains by playing golf at least three times a week. He looks forward to the competition and the opportunity to meet fellow athletes who share his love for the game. Caleb previously competed at the USA Games in Orlando and is excited to once again represent Kansas on the national stage.

Caleb works at Genesis, where he helps clean and organize the facility, and continues to balance work, training, and his passion for sports. His journey is a reflection of determination, confidence, and the lifelong impact of Special Olympics.
