Jennifer “Jen” Goff, from Lawrence, has been involved in Special Olympics for 20 years, building a lifelong passion for sports, leadership, and community. Over the years, Jen has competed in bowling, bocce, cornhole, tennis, snowshoes, shot put, and golf. When she was younger, she also participated in basketball, soccer, track and field, and swimming. As a certified athlete leader, Jen has taken part in leadership training, continuing to grow both on and off the field. Bocce is the sport she is representing at USA Games!
Through Special Olympics, Jen has made lasting friendships, stepped outside of her comfort zone, and traveled to new cities. The experience has strengthened her confidence and opened doors to sports and opportunities she once may not have thought possible. Jen is most proud of competing alongside her teammates and simply having fun together.
Outside of sports, Jen was active in Girl Scouts and 4-H, earning the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouts, alongside her sister and winning awards for showing her llamas. She loves reading, belongs to a weekly book club, and enjoys writing letters to famous people and collecting signed photos, including one from Tyler Perry. Jen also enjoys going to church with her mom and admires her sister for being a supportive, caring role model.
Jen works part time at the KU Café on campus, where she cooks food, cleans tables, and works as a cashier. As she prepares for her first USA Games experience, Jen is practicing with her coach and training independently to continue improving her skills. She is excited to meet athletes from across the country, compete in bocce, and create lasting memories. Her dedication, leadership, and positive spirit make her a proud representative of Special Olympics Kansas.
