Special Smiles at Youth State Basketball

Healthy Athletes® – Special Smiles
Special Smiles is a Healthy Athletes® discipline offered at Youth State Basketball in Emporia, providing Special Olympics athletes with free dental screenings and oral health education. Athletes can receive oral health screenings, brushing and flossing instruction, fluoride varnish application, and access to mouthguard fittings. By increasing awareness and access to dental care, Special Smiles helps reduce oral health disparities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and supports healthier, more confident athletes—on and off the field.
