Scott Ball has been part of Special Olympics for an incredible 35 years, and the experience has truly shaped his life. Through sports, Scott has discovered a global community filled with people who care deeply and work together to help athletes achieve their dreams.
One of the biggest challenges Scott has overcome is his weight loss journey, which he has tackled with determination and commitment. Today, he is proud of the healthy lifestyle he continues to build and maintain. His proudest accomplishment this year was being named the 2025 Special Olympics Kansas Summer Games Most Inspirational Athlete, an honor that reflects the positivity and encouragement he brings to everyone around him.
Scott stays active in his community by bowling, helping coach flag football, and spending time with the people who matter most to him. He admires his guardian and shared living family for their constant support and for always treating him with respect. When he’s not competing, Scott enjoys knitting—he can knit up to 10 hats in a week—and even has a hidden talent for singing.
Being selected for the 2026 USA Games means the world to Scott. He’s excited for the chance to compete on the national stage and hopes to bring home a first-place finish in bocce. To prepare, he’s been working out and practicing regularly on the bocce courts, focused and ready for the opportunity ahead.
Scott works at Bearded Bully Barbershop and proudly represents Kansas as he prepares for his first USA Games experience.
