USA Games Athlete Spotlight: Timothy Trowbridge

Hometown: Baldwin City
Sport: Flag Football

Timothy Trowbridge, from Baldwin City, has been part of Special Olympics Kansas since elementary school. Over the years, he has grown into a well-rounded athlete, currently competing in basketball, bowling, soccer, track and field, and flag football. Through Special Olympics, Timothy has strengthened his athletic skills and learned the value of teamwork, while also reminding himself that it’s always okay to ask for help when needed.

Timothy takes pride in his accomplishments, especially winning medals that represent the hard work and effort he puts into every competition. One of his favorite athletic memories includes a standout bowling performance last year, where he recorded three strikes and four spares in a single competition game. During his junior year of high school, Timothy also served as a manager for the Baldwin High School football team, further deepening his love for sports.

Outside of competition, Timothy works at Baker University with American Dining, helping in the kitchen and dish room. He enjoys staying active by riding his bike, especially his new e-bike, which he can ride to work. In his community, Timothy gives back by helping the local American Legion display American flags throughout downtown Baldwin City during holiday events. A lifelong sports fan, he loves listening to music with heavy bass and can easily recall sports statistics, including team win-loss records. As he looks ahead, Timothy is excited about flying on a plane, continuing to train with his team, learning the playbook, and chasing another trophy. His dedication, enthusiasm, and team-first mindset make him a proud representative of Special Olympics.

In June, Team Kansas will represent our state at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games — competing against thousands of athletes from across the country. For many, it’s the biggest moment of their athletic career.

But here’s the reality: getting our team to Minnesota doesn’t happen without serious community support. Travel, uniforms, equipment, meals, and competition fees add up fast. Every dollar raised goes directly toward making sure our athletes can focus on one thing — competing their hearts out.
