CJ Mills has been involved with Special Olympics for nearly 20 years, building confidence, friendships, and a lifelong love for competition along the way. Throughout his time in Special Olympics, CJ has competed in bowling, basketball, track and field, soccer, powerlifting, flag football, bocce, and cornhole.
Special Olympics has given CJ the opportunity to compete and a community to uplift him. One of his biggest obstacles has been helping others understand him, as speaking can sometimes be challenging. Over time, teammates and fellow athletes have taken the time to listen and understand him, allowing him to express himself with confidence. Their support has meant everything to him.
CJ’s passion for sports started early. In high school, he was a four-year track and soccer athlete, earning a varsity spot his senior year. He also played basketball his freshman year before serving as a team manager for two seasons. Outside of sports, CJ enjoys watching sporting events, playing PS5 sports video games, and staying active. At home, he helps take care of his dog. He admires his mom most for her kindness and willingness to help anyone.
As he prepares for his first USA Games experience, CJ is training hard and practicing as much as possible. He is especially excited to meet new friends from across the country and create unforgettable memories. His resilience, dedication, and love for sport make him a proud representative of Special Olympics Kansas.
