Gary is a dedicated Special Olympics Kansas athlete who has been building his skills, confidence, and competitive spirit for over five years. Born on September 23, 2001, Gary competes in multiple sports including flag football, powerlifting, softball, and cornhole, and is proud to represent Team Kansas at the 2026 USA Games.
For Gary, Special Olympics has been more than just sports—it’s been a place to compete, stay active, and connect with fellow athletes who share his passion. He values the opportunity to grow both on and off the field, noting that the experience has helped him continue building confidence in his abilities.
Gary is especially excited about being selected to compete in flag football at the 2026 USA Games, calling it a huge honor. He looks forward to the experience of traveling, competing at a national level, and taking part in everything that comes with being part of a USA Games delegation.
Outside of competition, Gary works at a local mall deli where he prepares sandwiches. In his free time, you’ll often find him enjoying video games and cartoons—two of his favorite ways to unwind. He also admires the coaches and staff who have supported him throughout his Special Olympics journey and helped him develop as an athlete.
Gary trains regularly, staying committed with a five-day-a-week schedule that includes football training twice a week and additional work in powerlifting, softball, and cornhole. He also travels monthly to Lawrence to train with Team Kansas, continuing to push himself and improve alongside fellow athletes.
While this will be Gary’s first World or USA Games experience, he is eager to embrace the opportunity and represent Kansas with pride.
