Courtney Henry is bringing experience, determination, and heart to Team Kansas as a golf athlete at the 2026 USA Games. Courtney has been involved in Special Olympics for 16 years, competing in a wide range of sports including track, swimming, bowling, skiing, and now golf. She previously represented Kansas at the Special Olympics USA Games 2022, and is excited for the opportunity to compete on the national stage once again.
“Special Olympics has given me friendships, teammates, and something to look forward to every year. I feel a sense of pride for myself as well as my teammates as we cheer for each other. It has also given me confidence—not just in competitions, but in all aspects of my life.”
Courtney’s journey hasn’t come without challenges. She manages Plantar Fasciitis, but through determination and care—icing, stretching, and wearing proper footwear—she continues to train and compete at a high level.
Her introduction to golf is especially inspiring. Having never played before 2021, Courtney quickly embraced the sport when she learned she could compete at USA Games. Through extra practices and working with coaches, she developed her skills and takes pride in her powerful long-range swing—especially when she clears the pond at her practice course.
Off the course, Courtney has been a dedicated employee at Walmart in Marysville for 14 years, where she is known for her strong work ethic and positive relationships with coworkers and customers alike. She’s always ready to lend a helping hand and enjoys connecting with familiar faces and new ones every day.
Courtney is also incredibly creative. She spends her time making fleece blankets, candles, and earrings—many of which she sells to support her fundraising efforts for Special Olympics. Her passion for giving back extends into her community as a member of the Community Randolph Church, where she helps with activities like Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and community meals.
Family plays a big role in Courtney’s journey. She credits her two sisters as her biggest supporters, traveling to events, encouraging her, and helping with fundraising every step of the way.
As she prepares for the 2026 USA Games, Courtney is excited for the energy, competition, and opportunity to represent Kansas once again.
“After attending the USA Games in 2022, I am excited to do it again, this time in another state. I’m really looking forward to the excitement and enthusiasm this amazing event brings. Having my family there cheering me on is a big plus. I feel proud to represent Kansas.”
We’re proud to have Courtney on Team Kansas and can’t wait to see her shine on the course!
