Skyler McMillin, from Douglas County, has been involved in Special Olympics for 16 years, competing in a wide range of sports including powerlifting, flag football, track, basketball, winter games, soccer, and volleyball. Through his years of dedication, Skyler has embraced countless opportunities to compete, travel, and build lasting friendships within the Special Olympics community. Flag football is the sport he is proud to represent.
Special Olympics has helped Skyler grow in confidence, especially by pushing him to come out of his shell and connect with others. He takes great pride in winning medals and experiencing new places, but what stands out most are the relationships he has built along the way.
Skyler is a passionate individual with a variety of interests. He enjoys working with dogs, staying active in the gym, and spending time working on his 1966 Chevy pickup truck. He also loves listening to Elvis Presley and performing karaoke. Skyler credits his parents as his biggest inspiration, as their constant support and encouragement have helped him succeed both on and off the field.
Skyler is no stranger to big stages. At the 2022 USA Games, he competed in powerlifting and brought home two gold medals and two silver medals. As he prepares for another USA Games experience, he is training with his teammates and continuing to stay active in the gym. Skyler is most excited about meeting new people from across the country and making the most of every opportunity. His determination, growth, and passion for sport make him a proud representative of Special Olympics.
