Athlete Spotlight: Chad

Chad has been a dedicated athlete with Special Olympics Kansas since his high school days. His passion for sports is evident through his involvement in basketball, bowling, and cornhole. Among these, bowling holds a special place in his heart as his favorite sport.

While Chad has not yet had the opportunity to compete at the USA or World Games, his enthusiasm and determination shine through in every competition. The joy and pride he feels as part of the Special Olympics community are his greatest accomplishments.

Outside of Special Olympics, Chad is an active participant in the Day Service Program, where he also works. His family means the world to him, and he enjoys spending time with them. Chad also has a passion for singing, which brings him and those around him joy.

For Chad, Special Olympics Kansas has been life-changing. He describes it as a source of happiness and fulfillment, making him proud of the accomplishments he achieves. When asked what the word “special” means to him, Chad simply says it’s something that brings joy.

Chad’s advice to anyone considering becoming a Special Olympics athlete is heartfelt and inspiring: “You are so proud of yourself, and you get to meet new people.” His positive spirit and enthusiasm remind us all of the power of sports to uplift and connect communities.

Thank you, Chad, for being a part of Special Olympics Kansas and sharing your joy with us all!

In June, Team Kansas will represent our state at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games — competing against thousands of athletes from across the country. For many, it’s the biggest moment of their athletic career.

But here’s the reality: getting our team to Minnesota doesn’t happen without serious community support. Travel, uniforms, equipment, meals, and competition fees add up fast. Every dollar raised goes directly toward making sure our athletes can focus on one thing — competing their hearts out.
