Geoff Birzer of Hays, Kansas has been part of Special Olympics Kansas for nearly 30 years, competing in basketball, bowling, and flag football. Through sports, Geoff has built lasting friendships and enjoys the opportunity to connect with new people.
One of Geoff’s favorite parts of Special Olympics is meeting and talking to others, and he takes pride in being a supportive teammate—always ready to lift others up when they’re having a tough moment. His hard work and dedication have paid off, as he consistently performs well and often medals at state competitions.
Outside of sports, Geoff enjoys playing video games, going to concerts, and listening to music. He’s also a big fan of Damian Ilalio with the K-State Football Team, and has a strong interest in history and U.S. presidents.
Geoff is proud to represent both Hays and the state of Kansas at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. He and his team have been working hard and training consistently to prepare, and he’s excited for the opportunity to compete on the national stage.
